Chocolate and Oat Cookies Recipe

Hi hi! Welcome to the second recipe in my little baking series. Today I thought I'd share the recipe for my favourite chocolate and oat cookies. I love baking these, their definitely one of my faves!


oil, for greasing

100g (3 ½ oz) white chocolate                                                     

100g (3 ½ oz) dark chocolate                                                                             

125g (4oz) butter, at room temperature                                          

125g (4oz) light muscovado sugar                                                

1 egg, beaten

125g (4oz) wholemeal self-raising flour 

1 tablespoon cocoa powder

50g (2oz) porridge oats


1. Set the oven to 180° C / 350° F / Gas Mark 4. Brush the baking seats with a little oil. 

2. Break to white and dark chocolate into small pieces.

3. Put the butter and sugar in the mixing bowl and beat with a wooden spoon or electric mixer until light and fluffy.

4. Add the egg, flour, cocoa powder and oats and mix until smooth. Stir in the chocolate pieces.

5. Scoop heaped teaspoons of the mixture on to the oiled baking sheets, leaving a little space in between to allow them to spread during cooking. 

6. Bake the cookies for 10-13 minutes until they are lightly browned. Leave to harden for 1-2 minutes then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. The cookies are best eaten on the day they are made.
